Adventures in Telon #VGD

Turns out, finding information about quests in Vanguard is a huge pain in the ass, especially when things haven’t been updated in (literally) years. Because of this, I’m going to start posting a few of my own walk-throughs as I complete quests, in the hopes that when I need to find them later they’ll actually be around. The information is out there, but it’s quite literally scattered all over the damn place, and because Vanguard has three completely different spheres that you can level up via, it’s just a disaster. Finding out where I should be in game is also proving to be quite an annoyance, so we’ll see if I can’t put together all the information I’ve stumbled upon and create some sort of leveling guide. I know absolutely nothing after level 50 either, which means I’ll have to try to find information on that some where. My highest level is 50, and that was the cap the last time I was playing seriously. Since then the cap has raised to 55.

My shaman is almost level 35. I spend the evening questing and clearing up old entries in my journal. Surprisingly enough there was only one death, despite the fact that  I haven’t played the shaman in quite some time. It’s 1am and I’m exhausted so this post is going to end here for now. Looking forward to a lot more posts tomorrow. Also, I wish I had the know-how to create a wiki for Vanguard, I’d be great at that.

Both my Level 50s are still level 50. Leveling beyond 50 is attritionally slow solo although there is specific post-50 solo content. I don’t know how fast in goes in a group.

I recently ran across a nice Vanguard website I hadn’t seen before, although as usual it’s way out of date. Beautifully laid-out though!

  2. Is the lack of walkthroughs a bad thing? When I trialed VG last year, I found that the Isle of Dawn was very underwhelming. Armed with a walkthrough, it was Vanguard’s attempt at World of Warcraft. Like most other games that aren’t actually focused on solo content, this attempt went poorly, and I felt it did basically nothing to emphasize the points that actually make Vanguard unique in today’s crowded marketplace.

That said, I do wish that the coordinate system had a third number to indicate what continent your quest objective is located on. I remember dying horribly and repeatedly because a level 10 diplomacy quest told me to go to a major city that I had never heard of, as a complete newbie. I set off for the compass point, not realizing that it was incorrect because I was on the wrong continent.

@Bhagpuss – I’ve used that site for a while, problem is as you’ve mentioned it’s out of date. I’m looking specifically for the flying mount quest walk-through.

@Green Armadillo – It really depends on play style and what you enjoy doing. There is so much content you will miss (imo) if you don’t have the slightest idea about it. Like the Unicorn mount, Shadowhound mount, flying mounts, the 100’s of crafting quests, diplomacy quests, racial mounts and how to get them, the Pegasus mounts, the Wyvern mount, Hunter’s League, CiS, etc just to name a very small handful. If you don’t have hours to discover everything by hand, then a walkthrough can be very helpful. It doesn’t detract from the game for everyone, it’s really just a personal preference.

How do you get your vanguard to look that good? You must use a nvidia card, as I could never get AA to work with my ATI one. I can run the game on near-max settings and it never looks as good as yours/others screenshots.

@Professer – Nope, I’m using ATI. I have an i7 PC with 8 gigs of ram, and am using an AMD Radeon HD 6950 I really dislike Nvidia after I went through 3 of them in a year a while back. I switched after that and never looked back.

    @ Green Armadillo:
Holy crap, I think you just solved one of the great riddles of Vanguard for me! I’ve been wondering for years, every time I go back, why so many coordinate points seem to be completely wrong and useless…. they probably just are on that position on a different continent! I need to check that next time I resubscribe.
