    Star Wars is often called “Space opera” rather than “sci-fi” as it’s really a typical sword-and-sorcery style hero-comes-of-age story that just happens to be set in “a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.” But the Jedi are wizards, the space ships are essentially magical fast travel. . . yeah, it’s got a lot of fantasy elements. I’d definitely encourage you to give it a shot.

    FWIW, functionally my “sci-fi” Republic Trooper and my “wizard” Sith Sorcerer are identical — ranged dps with the ability to magically heal. The trooper uses devices to do what he is, so he’s sci-fi, while the Sorcerer uses The Force, so he’s “magic.” But they do about the same dps, have the same healing capabilities, etc. It’s all in the label, not in the function 😀
